Security Jobs Outlook

Security Jobs: Limited formal training requirements and flexible hours make security jobs attractive to many individuals seeking a second job or part-time employment. Similar jobs include police detectives, correctional officers and private investigators.

Education: Most states require that guards be licensed. Licensing requires passing a background check and completing classroom training. Drug testing often is required and may be random and ongoing.

Scope: Employment of security guards and gaming surveillance officers is expected to grow as fast as the average for all occupations through 2014 as concern about crime, vandalism and terrorism continues to increase the need for security.

The buzz word for the decade, security jobs are growing with the national average. Over half of the current security jobs are for investigation and security services like guards and armored car. What makes the security jobs outlook favorable? Business is booming, and those promotions in security jobs need replacements.
