Customer Service Jobs Outlook

Customer Service Jobs: Customer service representatives, bank tellers, retail salespersons and computer support specialists are a few of the jobs in this fast-growing industry.

Education: Most jobs require a high school diploma, but this varies.

Scope: Beyond growth stemming from expansion of the industries in which customer service representatives are employed, a need for additional reps is likely to result from heightened reliance on these workers. While jobs in some industries, such as retail trade, may be affected by economic downturns, the customer service occupation is generally resistant to major fluctuations in employment.

Amidst rumors of call center layoffs, surprisingly customer service jobs are growing faster than average. Fueled by industry growth, the majority of customer service jobs are in insurance, banking and brokerages. Temp agency customer service jobs are also a viable option for people-people.
