While the economy has struggled and full-time jobs have become harder to find, employers have been busy adding part-time workers. If the new year is giving you new resolve to find a better job -- or just any job -- you may want to consider a part-time job. Whether it's for the flexibility of a part-time schedule or to make some extra money, you will find there are thousands of part-time jobs available now. From New York to D.C. to Boston, transit systems were shut down, tunnels and bridges closed and offices shuttered, all due to Hurricane Sandy. So many employees were working from makeshift home offices -- at least as long as they have power.

Here's where some of us on the AOL editorial team will be working through Hurricane Sandy. As you can see, some of us are improvising, camped out in friends' homes or working in small apartments. The coffee is hot, everything with a battery is charged, and we're here until the electricity goes out in our respective homes.
As Apple fans anxiously await the release of new iPhone 5 (mine is due to be delivered in about an hour), that got me thinking: What are the new tech tools that can make job hunting easier?
Chan C.
Intern - AOL Lifestream

Howdy. My intern life in the Lifestream team back-end is fun and inspiring. Lifestream, a social network aggregator and publisher, is still a young and very dynamic product of AOL. This gives me, ave been working on many interestingly distinct projects including getting my hands dirty with the Lifestream's API and web automation, and using many open-source software for distributed computing. It's hard to stop being jealous of me!

What you need to know about me is that I am fascinated with all kind of artwork: computer graphic, drawing, painting, photograph, poetry, songs and whatever originate from the creativity (Java code may counted). I would love to be a real artist someday despite the fact that I am focusing on my Computer Science degree at George Washington University right now. Thanks for reading.

We actually applied advance math skill to calculate all the possibility or putting as many boxes as possible in the large one.

Let's see what others do. They cleaned up the pennies http://ow.ly/i/2Eu1

Who know what Coca Cola can do http://ow.ly/i/2Eu9

After two hours of boxing, we got moved to clean up the closet that is full of ...trash

Looked at the closet, i think about my own closet at home. **sigh**

That's my buddy and she didn't like her face when she is serious http://ow.ly/i/2Ewt

No one can wait until 1 http://ow.ly/i/2EwT

Yolanda: the food is all over my face http://ow.ly/i/2EAw

Heck yeahhh http://ow.ly/i/2EAI

Intern - AOL Corporate Communications

Welcome! I'm currently interning with AOL for my third summer in a row with the Corporate Communications team. My main responsibility is writing features, editing articles and taking photos for our internal employee news site, AOL Today. I also dabble on the PR side of communications drafting press releases, compiling media lists and tracking AOL's news coverage.

During the school year I work part-time for AOL while earning my Masters in Communication from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. I completed my undergrad from Virginia Tech in 2008 - Go Hokies! When I'm not at work or busy reading textbooks, I enjoy taking walks around the lakes and parks in my community, and traveling as much as possible.

Hi! I'm Kristina from AOL's Corporate Communications and you can follow me today to learn all about the PR world.

Selecting some of the photos I've taken at AOL events for an HR recruiting brochure... we take fun seriously!

Is 11:30 a.m. too early to start thinking about lunch? I think today might be a peanut butter and jelly kind of day...

Tracking AOL's press coverage... Nice to see pick up from the AP on AOL Health's chat with Mrs. Obama http://bit.ly/cGvxEA

Writing an article for our employee news site to recruit volunteers and donations for the American Cancer Society fundraiser!

Looking forward to covering tomorrow's intern volunteer event working with the Reston Association in Reston, Va.

Hi there! I have been interning with AOL for a little over a year. I work on the production support team for AOL News. A lot of what I do is front-end website modifications. Some of the websites I contribute to are AOL News, Politics Daily, Walletpop, Daily Finance, and AOL Small Business. I cannot articulate how much I love my job. Some days I never want to leave!

Along with working for AOL, I am also a senior at Old Dominion University majoring in Information Technology, with concentrations in Network Engineering and Database Administration.

When I don't have my face buried in a monitor or or textbook, I can usually be seen playing softball. I currently play on a travel softball team. I have played since the 10th grade and have loved it. I am also a new gizmo fan. Hopefully getting the new iPhone on Thursday *crosses fingers*.

A Day In The Life with Stephanie

One of the many reasons I love interning with AOL is their flexibility. I have to wfh in the morning, then to the doc, then work

Back in the office and coding some jquery. Some tutorials that helped me get familiar with jquery awhile ago, http://ow.ly/2boZS

Working on a module for AOL News. It just reminds me of how evil IE6 is. But, that's why there are css hacks :)

I've been interning here for a little over a year and sometimes it's still hard to prioritize tasks

Just added another contributor to out long list of writers for AOL News http://ow.ly/2buFh

Sorry! I meant "our". Clearly IE6 killed some brain cells when I had to work with it a couple hours ago

Listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers while doing some fixes on WalletPop http://ow.ly/2bwJ8 I may start singing out loud

After being here for a year, you would think I would know our systems pretty well. Oh well, Pirates of the Caribbean music ftw

Remote modules, here I come

I have to drag myself away from my computer to go home. Woot woot for 28 and 66 traffic! Thanks for following!

Intern - AOL Mail

Hello world. I am a software development intern with the Anti-spam team in AOL Mail. Nowadays for the most part, I've been doing Java programming but my first few weeks involved C, some shell scripts, and performance testing. I am a junior in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon, and I'm getting a minor in discrete math.

I like to play competitive foosball in my free time (yes, foosball, it's not a typo). I also like to travel, so I do both when I get the chance.

Read emails and got my day in order. It's coding time now.

I feel slightly alone. Half of my row is gone to a conference this week: http://ceas.cc/2010/main.shtml

Debugging ftw

Perl class now and lunch

Learned about Perl file I/O. Now time for Java file I/O.

3 o'clock came fast! I'm mapReducing. yay Hadoop.

Aol is one of the few places where you're EXPECTED to use AIM at work. lol.

I'm working with a lot of open source software. http://dev.aol.com/topic/opensource

It's time for the intern vs. full-timers volleyball match! After that I'm foosballing, so my work day is done. Thanks for following!...
