Tina Fey Docked $79k For Failing To Carry Workers' Comp Insurance

That's a dealbreaker, ladies!

Blerg! Actress and 30 Rock creator Tina Fey might've found herself uttering Liz Lemon's old catchphrase this past weekend, after the New York State Workers' Compensation Board slapped her with a $79,000 judgment for failing to carry workers' comp insurance.

According to documents obtained by The Smoking Gun, Fey received a bill--ominously marked "Final Notice"--for not carrying the insurance from late 2012 through last month. As Page Six reported, the agency recently filed a lawsuit against Fey because she was a month behind on the payment.

Although the bill was sent to the address of Fey's production company, Little Stranger Inc., Fey herself is named on the documents, so it's unclear whether crew members were lacking coverage or dog walkers.

The documents also state that Fey has previously appealed the fine; Fey's spokeswoman Cara Tripicchio told the New York Daily News that her client "has proper and current insurance covering all employees and at no time has worker's compensation payment lapsed."

She also said that the bill, which was sent to an address that had been unused for almost six years, seemed to be the result of a clerical error.

Regardless of Fey's involvement in the matter, Liz Lemon will always be a shining light of good-natured wackiness. And Fey herself has some good career lessons to offer up.

Why even bother about printing an article based on someone's dereliction of duty if you make a dozen excuses for them as to why they didn't do that duty?

Any negative reported on a progressive is diluted down to a question mark whereas if it's a conservative negative, the person or action is stamped "guilty as charged" in the first paragraph of the article.

I challenge anyone to find a single AOL article where this standard doesn't apply..

Ha ha. So the funny girl gets zapped. She has lots of fun making fun of others, so I'm thrilled that she has the opportunity to look up the word KARMA. Be sweet Tina. Sarah Palin will also be thrilled at your good fortune.

Actually, Tina's skits make Palin appear smarter than she is.

Good. This hack deserves anything negative to express how useless she and that little blond bimbo who followed her out of SNL are. They lack fundamental talent, entertainment humor and now this piece of SNL bile is ruining our children's entertainment by appearing in a MUPPET'S movie. Is it possible that the Actors Guild can fine her for misrepresenting talent. Tina Fey, leave the Muppet's alone and drag your talent-less ass down the road in other movie ventures like the crap Will Farrell puts out. Those self serving movies will ensure worldwide recognition of the SH*TY actors SNL (i.e. jimmy fallon) has regurgitated onto the public. Not much of a success so far are you Tina!

Sarah Palin probably pays her workers well and doesn't cheat them out of their compensation coverage. Can't wait to see her chastise "Ms righteous and condescending Tina Fey" about her civic duties. I mean it's easy to make a career out of mimicing a woman who has achieved a lot more in their life than you ..... AND is better looking to boot! It's quite another thing to legitimately run a small business ( leave alone a State !) The joke is on Ms Fey.

Sarah Palin doesn't have half the intelligence Tina Fey has. Not to mention old Sarah is an irrelevant washed up hack! Tina Fey is not only better looking but doesn't have that Palin voice that sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard.

I guess she's not laughing now - The lady thinks she is a comedian - she can't compete with the comedy stars of yesteryear.

She made her career out of mimicking Sarah Palin. She is quite limited otherwise. It's sad that women try to bring down their own in a male dominated world of politics. What she found laughable about Gov. Palin was her accent, her lack of "city chic", her large family, lack of ivy league education.... things like that. Quite petty and no male politician would be mocked for the above qualities. The secret of .Palin's success was that she was a woman of the people. Most politicians are. Ms. Fey is too dumb to get it. Just like she was too dumb to use address forwarding from her old office..... duh!

I love it. The only thing better would be having Sarah Palin come on TV and laugh at her over it.

The first question is whether the fine is personal or it is that of a corporation, Little Stranger Inc. An individual, working for themselves isn't required to have W/C. Most have health and disability, personal policies. Anyone working as an "independent contractor" such as someone paid by the episode or "the job", rather than hourly, weekly, or monthly, is exempt from W/C.
