Feel-Good Friday: Operating Room Dance-Off

Staff at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco follow lead of their patient

As far as intense work environments go, it's hard to top the operating room. But the staff at the Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco decided to take a load off and joined their patient, Dr. Deborah Cohen, in a dance-off before her recent double mastectomy procedure, at her request. The group danced to Beyoncé's "Get Me Bodied." The YouTube video's already been viewed more than 6.5 million times. (Cohen herself is an OB-GYN at the University of California, San Francisco, medical center.)

The video is simply awe-inspiring, a joyful celebration in the face of the worst. ABC News has called Cohen an "inspiration." And Cohen, a mother of two, encouraged others to do their own dance-off after her surgery; as was reported by Buzzfeed, she's asked friends and family to record their own dance for her recovery.

As for the surgery, it was a success. As was noted on her CaringBridge page, "Deb's surgery was very successful. No visible lymph node involvement. She's in good spirits. Already did some walking. Amazing."
