Burger King Worker Quits With Bridge-Burning Resignation Letter

By Rebecca Baird-Remba

The website Passive Aggressive Notes has posted what it calls a "whopper of a resignation" letter. The unnamed guy who wrote the letter was "resigning" from his job at Burger King because he was going to law school.

He said he hated the fast food giant and people who worked there, including "my fellow employees that cannot speak the language."

He concludes saying he didn't need references because he's heading to a "real job" and law school.

The Burger King worker who submitted the letter said it was written by an employee who "pretended to like everyone" but had "finally had enough of working in the inferno we call Burger King."

Here's the letter:

Burger king is a UK based company and treats its employees like crap unless you perchance happen to have a human for a supervisor. Games boot licking lies pressure to work after your off the clock all things that break the labor laws and codes are practiced daily Pompous supervisors doing things just to intimidate employees rather than truly manage employees Its all sickening. burger king needs to wake up and stop the filth they allow to badger and harrass employees who working for substandard pay and getting nothing but hell for it

this story ran on this site last week, what happened, no mud found on conservatives, or maybe the media can't find any stories to make up on entertainers, just pathetic watching the media gasp at the fact that theres no news and the're desperate to come up with something even to the point they have to create it

Lol...lots of unemployed law school graduates these days. Shows no class. Just quit and move on with your life. Also, have the stones to put your name on it. I'm sure that future employers would like to know your history.

When you look at most dealerships that charge 60.00 to 100.00 per hour for work, 36K is low low low. However, any mech worth their salt will make that at least on the side, evenings and weekends if they want to. Some just don't want to after the job but thats their problem.

Unless the mechanic has signed a contract with his employer, than it would be illegal...

omg I can't imagine any shop requiring a mechanic to refrain from taking on "side work".

That's insane and any half talented tech would walk away from that interview laughing.

Yeah I noticed that too, but they may be taking a rounded avg . Keep in mind the cheap oil change places and tire shops where you really need no mechanical skills to complete a task.

What was he expecting, a goodbye party at the Waldorf? What high quality law school has accepted this lunkhead?

I guess I would have to ask why this is considered newsworthy. This guy isn't the first disgruntled worker to write a stupid resignation letter, nor is Burger King the only company to have received one. The impression is that Burger King is a terrible organization and an awful place to work, which is unfair to Burger King. The only thing dumber than this letter is the decision to make it a story.

The employee voluntarily stayed in a job, he now says he hated, for three years. He was paid bi-weekly to do the work, a job which required no special skills, and his big complaint now is stale cookies and fruit punch. What will be his future complaint for his next job? I am sure the cookies were not shipped and did not arrive stale, and the punch is a mix which he should have monitored correctly so it tasted better. He was aware of what the job was about when he was hired. The letter will make a poor reference point for his future. He's now "HEADING TO LAW SCHOOL"? He's not a law student yet, nor an attorney. I am sure that Burger King crew he worked with had a small party after he left. A "CRYBABY".

Sadly too many people are hired in many jobs who refuse to speak english. That is a real problem across America.

Who 'refuse' to speak English? I think you need to blame the owners, who hire people who don't speak English, so they can pay them less. If employers paid people a living wage and treated them with respect, maybe people wouldn't be so unhappy.

I think the letter is all made up. No one writes a letter of resignation when some one is "flipping burgers". When some wants to quir at Burger King, they just tell the manager and quit. It is a fake letter and not worthy of news.
