I am not sure where rjwod80 is commenting from, but here in Chicago those professions are some of the highest paid.. I have a retired firefighter and teacher as clients, and both make more in retirement than they did and I do while working.

Must be nice.

Yes, it must be nice that they worked their entire lives and earned retirement. Good for them; don't sit here and act like they did nothing to deserve that.

the under paid teacher's, school administrators, school board members, teacher's pension administrators, and civil servants seem to be left off the list. Well maybe we can all find out next year how their salaries rate against the more diminishing working class.

Teachers, cops, and fire fighters are very well paid in my area.....I know one teacher who was making $86,000 a year at 53 years old (for 9 months work a year) and she retired at that age......and the "civil servant's" pensions are incredible......many retire on 75 to 80% of their pay.......look at priviate industry pensions (those that still have pensions which is rare).....most of these people retire on VERY minimal pensions since private industry demands profits and can't rely on tax dollars for support.....how much do you think civil servants diserve?

It is easy to see why americans fought to unionize for better wages, pensions and benefits in the middle 1800's on until now.If you want to get upset, google minimum wage from when it began up until now.You will see how cold both parties in congress have been to the american worker.Congress is talking about raising MW to 10 bucks an hour now?It should have been that in the 70's.In 1982 congress voted theirselves an 18% payraise while raising MW 5 cents or was it a quarter?Gee I might be able to buy that car I wanted now before I die.If my kids pitch in.I challenge anyone reading this post to write down on paper. If you are single with no dependents. How much you pay in house rental, house payment, house taxes, house insurance, car rental, car payment, car taxes, car insurance, electric, water, gas, fuel oil, sewage, propane, trailor payment, rental, lot fees, garbage collection, medical and dental insurance if anyGive me a number. Can 10 bucks an hour minus taxes pay for that?Notice that I didn't include food, clothing, phone, television or computer and internet. You can't possibly do it now.Even union workers with a lower pay scale can't.Both parties don't understand this.Or maybe they do and don't care.I challenge all members of congress, both parties,to suspend their incomes and work for minimum wage, live on SS only,or medicare, medicaid or welfare for 1 month.?None of them have the balls to try. They will cry like little girls.I am sorry.I didn't mean to offend little girls. They have more gumption than both parties in congress have.

So if you save lives every day, you maybe get 35-45K a year. If you can throw a ball and run, you get millions a year. SMH.

If we have a problem with what atheletes, actors or actresses make then we should just stop going to games paying for tickets or going to the movies. We help them make what they make. If we dont buy they dont get the high pay. Simple. How ever I do think some of the people do desearve a better paycheck.
