Reporter Receives Call From Mom During Live News Report

Have you ever received a poorly timed personal call at work? You're about to close a deal, when your child's principal calls, informing you that a photo of your daughter, scantily clad, is circulating around middle school? You're getting a disastrous job-performance review, when your hubby calls to say that he loves you? Well, take some consolation in the fact that your ill-timed call wasn't caught on video.

On Friday, news crews swarmed the busiest mall in Brisbane, Australia, after a gunman was reported on the loose. Reporters breathlessly updated the public of every move, as scores of police surrounded the man in a tense standoff. One of those reporters, for Sky News, was relaying the action from photos on a phone, handed to him by a crew member.

"He's surrounded by police," he explains, examining the picture on the phone. "They're holding their guns up."

The reporter then decided to share the photo with audiences directly, bringing the phone up close to the camera lens. And then ... well, you can watch the tape.

This story can't be true. Australia has the types of gun control laws the white house is pushing so these things can't possibly happen.

This story is about something NOT in the USA but in Australia. Have you noticed more and more stories "on AOL" are about things OUTSIDE of the USA: China, England, Australia, ANYWHERE but in the USA. For those who reject conspiracy theories, in fact this IS a deliberate attempt to mold your mind and brainwash you into thinking globally, the "global village" and destroy any sense of nationality on the part of Americans and "nationality" was in fact a scheme of British bankers to destroy your sense of "locality" (local autonomous rule) so that you would accept "national rule" and "national slave debt-banking" and now the push/move is toward international rule, international banking all being fomented upon you, the American because with out the sham/fraud debt-banking system would have ALREADY collapsed and it will eventually and the longer it takes, the worse the outcome, for everyone. RESIST GLOBALIZATION - see it for what it is and it is NOT in YOUR family's best interest or your country.

Totally agree! You should see how the O is pushing for the UN control of the United States. Ever notice how Chicago police uniforms look just like the UN's?

I don't see what's so mortifying about the guy he borrowed the phone from getting a call from his mother. What a non-story.

I guess this reporter wasn't smart enough to utter 14 simple words that would have taken less than a minute and he wouldn't have missed any signigicant action in the standoff. . "Mom, I working and can't talk now. I'll call you back when I can."

I don't want to "watch the tape". I want to read the article, not have it read to me.

Amen. I totally agree. I wish HuffPost and AOL would pay attention.

Agree! And I don't want to watch any more advertising over and over and over again with each new link. Boring!
