Ex-Taco Bell Employee Jason Earl Dean Gets 10-Year Sentence For Handcuffing Himself To Co-Worker

Ex-Taco Bell employee Jason Earl Dean sentenced.
Sent to Jail For Handcuffing Himself to Female Co-Worker
Lots of grand romantic gestures are illegal, like running through airport security to declare your love, punching someone who dishonors your lady, or standing outside your sweetheart's window, blasting "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel from a boombox.

And one daring display of affection has now landed one lovelorn Georgia 25-year-old in jail for four years, and on probation for another six, reports the Catoosa News. In August 2011, Jason Earl Dean, who worked at a Taco Bell in Ringgold, Ga., handcuffed himself to an 18-year-old co-worker whom he wished to date. Unfortunately, the girl reportedly had zero interest in Dean, had expressed this to him multiple times, and even changed her shifts to avoid him.

After he cuffed them together, the teenager allegedly screamed, and Dean reassured her that he just wanted to talk. Their co-workers called the police, and Dean undid the lock and left the scene. He was arrested two days later on the felony charge of false imprisonment.

But it took almost a year and a half for Dean to get his verdict. "It's a split sentence," Lookout Mountain assistant district attorney Alan Norton told the Catoosa News. "Four years is to be served in the department of corrections, while the remainder is to be served on probation with specific conditions."

As part of his sentencing, Dean is also not allowed to be within handcuffing-distance of his victim again, or make any contact with her or her family.

What part of "NO" didn't he understand? Over and over again?

OF COURSE he belongs in jail - he's about two inches away from being a rapist, and a really dangerous one because he's apparently stupid enought to think what he was doing was "dating" rather than "false imprisonment".

She had the right, after all, to kill him in self-defense, or saw his hand off with a meat cleaver, but kindly did NOT do so. He should appreciate how EASY he got off. Just because it's not India (and he's not a sports star) so he doesn't get to have all his friends rape her doesn't mean he's being unfairly punished. At all.
Just because we let killers off sometimes doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve every minute of this sentence. Basically he needs to be old enough that he'll only approach women capable of defending themselves before he can start "dating" again. I'd suggest he start with cops, prison guards, ex-soldiers and others he won't be tempted to use force on.

Really unfair sentence. The man immediately uncuffed the woman. This seems grossly unfair.

happened to someone i know, she had to drag kitchen table to living room to get to only wired phone in house. but her mistake was calling her parents instead of police, probably because she was without clothes and embarrassed. in this case really bare assed. in this case she took the punishment 10 more years married to this control freak. maybe this cat will enjoy prison, lots of handcuffs, lots of locked doors, and a chance for him to be the girlfriend.,

This is a ridiculous sentance..... rapists and murderers only get 10 yrs. This guy gets 4 yrs in prison for this??? OK yeah it was stupid, and wrong,,,, but the article said he immediatly uncuffed her. Its not like he abducted her or harmed her in some way. I wonder if the state of GA gets paid by a prison company for putting prisoners in prison ?

Only in America. This guy gets 10 years. Fathers who don't pay child support get long terms. Meth cookers are out the next day. Murderers are out in 5. Somethings wrong here......

and just this very evening on nbc i watched a tv show where teens who text and drive, wreck and KILL people get a day in jail, or probation. this is way too harsh. maybe the if it were a girl who hand cuffed herself to a boy ten years would be the same punnishment? i think this girl is way over sensitive - but i dont know the whole story. if you can text and drive and kill someone i think you should get 10 years, not a day in jail.

I agree this sentence is ridiculous. The guy was way over the top and downright stupid for doing this. But, seriously, I know of people who weare back on the streets after six and seven years for murder. MURDER. Of course, the victims in question were black, and we all know what little value the government and courts put on black lives. But this is insane.
