Private Sector Added 158,000 Jobs In October, Highest In 8 Months, ADP Says

ADP jobs report new jobs

NEW YORK -- U.S. companies added 158,000 jobs in October, data from a payrolls processor showed on Thursday, in a revamped report on the private sector labor market. That was the most private sector jobs added in eight months, according to Bloomberg.

The historical data for the ADP National Employment Report was revised as part of the new methodology, which was used for the first time in the October report. September's increase has halved to 88,200 new jobs from an initially reported 162,000.

Economists had forecast that October's report would show a gain of 135,000 jobs, according to a Reuters poll.

Economists often refer to the ADP report to fine-tune their expectations for the non-farm payrolls report due on Friday, though it's not always accurate in predicting the outcome. The overhaul is meant to bring ADP's numbers more in line with the government's final revised jobs figures.

According to a survey by Bloomberg, the Labor Department report tomorrow may show private sector jobs increased by 124,000 in October while unemployment rate crept up to 7.9 percent.

I think there are more jobs (if there really are) is because employers feel that Mitt Romney will win and get rid of Obamacare. If Obama wins we can look for businesses laying people off.

Hey AOL, this is new methodology for ADP, there is nothing to base this report on other than last months revision to 88,000 jobs created from 162,000 under there old method. This headline has no merit at all because the baseline is only a one month old report.

Around 10,000 people Retire each day...That's 300,000 a month. So roughly half of those jobs are being filled and we are suppose to be happy!! Mr Obama's plan is full of BS...time to move on to something better

I don't believe a word of this. It's 5 days before election and miraculously, the best report in 8 months ??? That's bulls**t. You absolutely cannot trust the main-stream media or the Obama administration. They lie, manipulate the data, and conspire to cover-up. And the "main-stream-media" is a major contributor to the manipulation, cover-up and miss-imformation given to the American public. This is totally political nad meant only to lie to voters, immediately before election. Odd how everything seems to be coming together, just hunky-dorey and the greatest improvement just 5 days before election than in the last four years. It's called "dirty politics".

How bogus is it to count the report as 158000 when there's a revision of negative 88000 from the previous month? If that is allowed to be propogated as a valid number, all the forces trying to help Obama stay in office would have to do would be to report 200,000 new jobs every month then take 110,000 off that count the following month. Get real people.

Black Unemployment has gone from 11% in 2008 to 15% today! Martin Marietta JUST announced that they are laying off 160 THOUSAND workers before XMAS. You can't dispute those facts! And the numbers from NJ, NY and PN, have NOT come in to the labor dept yet because of the storm.... so the figures are incorrect.
