Seasonal Hiring Booming: Retailers Hiring Holiday Help Now

seasonal jobs holiday hiring

As the holiday grows nearer, more retailers continue to announce hiring plans to fill seasonal jobs. And this year the U.S. could see the most robust hiring its seen in five years, according to a poll of 1,000 hiring managers by Snagajob (via CBS MoneyWatch).

Meanwhile, an annual report from the National Retail Federation projects 585,000 and 625,000 temporary retail workers will be hired this holiday season -- about on par, the group says, with the 607,000 hired last year. Including those who work in shipping and other industries, total seasonal hiring is expected to reach 700,000.

Went through all the local FedEx warehouse seasonal hiring steps for a Package Handler (sort observation, online application, interview, etc.), yet despite my time and effort invested, they still didn't hire me. Years of steady professional employment, and no criminal history, apparently made no difference. FedEx seemed to favor hiring younger applicants for this temporary nonstop type of work. And places like FedEx and UPS are supposed to be among the best employers to work for (mainly due to their free benefits, if you ever become a regular hire)? What a joke.

And you can bet that these 90 day jobs will play right into obama's claim of creating all these jobs for his "people".It will show a short term decrease in the unemployment rate, especally for the ones that start before the election. All part of the re-election plan by obama's handlers. It's a shame so many of our people must depend on these short term jobs in order to be able to "get by" for awhile. Obama has done nothing to help those people, and millions just like them, these last four years, yet he feels he should be given another term. For what , 4 more years of out of work Americans?

Every time am illegal alien is deported an American gets a job back and 3-5 anchor babies are removed from the schools so American children once again get a good education.

If you can avoid working for any of these employers, do so.This is the most non productive, waste of time employment around.

Better off on welfare, sad but true. Toys 'R Us does not pay a living wage, you will get no benefits, and probably part time work. Maybe someday jobs will become more rewarding that a government check!

If you want to get minimum wage while working you to death yes Toys R US would be a great job. Toys R US loves to make their multimillion's while paying their workers $7.50 an hour. Any Corporation can afford regular wages such as a minimum of 10 an hour.
