Gallup Finds U.S. Unemployment Rate Plummeting

Gallup poll unemployment rate dropping

New data from Gallup affirms official government statistics, showing that the unemployment rate is dropping sharply. Gallup's data finds that unemployment has declined from 7.9 percent in late September to 7.3 percent in mid-October, the lowest since Gallup began collecting data in January 2010.

Take a look below. Will this put an end to the conspiracy theories among Jack Welch and other Mitt Romney supporters?

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. unemployment, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, is 7.3 percent in mid-October, down considerably from 7.9 percent at the end of September and at a new low since Gallup began collecting employment data in January 2010. Gallup's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 7.7 percent, also down from September. October's adjusted mid-month measure is also more than a percentage point lower than October 2011.

These results are based on Gallup Daily tracking surveys conducted by landline and cell phone with more than 30,000 U.S. adults from Sept. 16-Oct. 15. Gallup's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate incorporates the .04 upward adjustment used by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in October of last year. The adjustment for September was an increase of .02, which explains the .04 drop in seasonally adjusted employment despite the .06 decline in the unadjusted number.

ALL PART TIME JOBS AND IN JANUARY WE WILL HAVE EN EVEN BIGGER UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM, THIS PARTIME JOBS THING IS UNFORTUNATELY A PASSING THING, AS LONG AS OBAMA 'S POLICIES ARE IN PLACE IT WILL NEVER CHANGE! WATCH CAREFULLY WHAT GALLUP SAYS THEY HAVE BEEN THREATENED BY THE SURROGATES OF OBAMA AND FEEL INTIMIDATED, CHECK THIS OUT IT IS TRUE, AND SO I AM A SKEPTIC ON THEIR TAKE ON CERTAIN POLLS.

TypAs a career consultant, for the last 25 years.... I find that people who employ job skills, like knowing who you are and what they can do, like networking and marketing, and getting out there.... they do find jobs... .the ones who don't ..well, they sit at home on their computers and "apply" for jobs, 10, 20, 400 and then wonder why noone responds, you might just as well throw your resume in the trash.... so get to the EI office, take their course, APPLY the skills, and you will most likely be successful...and...your attitude is the most important thing you can bring...and oftentimes, people bring bad attitudes, so who would want to work with you. And sometimes you take lesser paying jobs, to get in, to learn new skills.... it's attitude that keeps people from doing a lot of these things, so check your attitude and see what a positive one brings.e your comment here

The unemployment rate will continue to fall again next month. Hoilday shops are being set up all over the country and the stores are populated by temporary workers. Other retailers are hiring for their holiday shopping needs. Once the holidays are over these people will be again, out of work and the unemployment numbers will rise.

Apparently you don't understand what "seasonal adjustments" are. Look it up. The internet isn't only for spouting off about things you don't understand. It is an excellent research tool, as well.

WRONG!!!! Unemployment is NOT plummeting - people are just falling off the roles because they have been unemployed for such a long period of time. Of course the current administration wants you to believe that the unemployment rate is dropping - ITS ELECTION TIME!!! I sure hope you people are not believing this garbage!!!

Odd! An article in the L A Times today, hidden on the second page of the business section says: Jobless claims jump sharply. Someone's getting desperate.

Unemployment laws in my state (and others?) require you to take a job offer where compensation is 150% of the maximum benefit amount. That means any job offer over $19,000 / year. That's about $9.50 / hour.

Is that full employment for a college-educated professional with many years of experience? No. But that counts you as "employed" for obama's publicity ads.

So milking the govt. teat for $13K/yr is preferable until someone hands you a $65K/yr job with bennies? Sounds like the attitude of one of Romney's 47% or Ryan's 30%.
