How Workers Waste Time [Infographic]

Wow isn't this ironic...I'm wasting time at work by reading an online article about how workers waste time by going online...who else is guilty? lol

It's not the employee that should be spoken to about time wasted, but their immediate superviser that should be insuring that there is no time being wasted. I have been in numerous positions from an everyday field worker to program management, and it really irks me when somebody mentions to me that so and so isn't doing their job and spends too much time socializing. The first thing I do is call in that persons supervisor to find out why they don't know this. I have to insure that 16 supervisors are doing their job, and they need to take responsibility to insure their workers are doing their job. That is what Perfomance Sheets are supposedly used for.

A place I worked at had a meeting to discuss low productivity. And of course during the meeting guess how much work got done? You guessed it. Then they told the workers there would not be any raises given out that year due to the economy, even though our branch earned about a million dollar profit the prior year, and then linked bonuses to the results of everyone, virtually guaranteeing that no one would get any bonuses because about 1/3 of workers were good and earned them, 1/3 were ok, and the other 1/3 never cared anyway. After a bunch of complaints and people leaving for greener pastures, they decided that maybe they could give out some small raises after all that year. It was too little, too late. Probably half the workers quit to find other jobs with real pay and opportunities and the place is on the verge of bankruptcy. Poor greedy bastards.

I find it ridiculous to expect people to work every second of the work day. As long as the work is being done on time and efficient. I do say just like smokers, none smokers should be entitled to take all those 5-10 minute breaks during the day as well. I am a manager and I find that when people are allowed to get up, walk around and return to their desk or station after 5-10 minutes they are refocused and work better.

This article is completely bogus. Per the President, these are the people who make their employers wealthy. None of these people would even consider wasting time at work.

One day, I was waiting outside the post office for a friend. I must have been waiting for about an hour. Across the street was a government building. About every 15 minutes, I witnessed the same group of people come out of the building for their smoke break. I couldn't believe my eyes! All I could wonder was, who the hell is doing all of the work in that building?

I Would say Most Employers Employees Waste time Smoking or Going to the Bathroom or Cell Phones or Chit Chat --And if theirs a Big Construction Job Site Most people Don't know where Who's Supposed to be & when & Most of those Men waste time at the Coolers or Bathrooms

It is meetings -- we had a meeting before the meeting to discuss and explain what we'd talk about in the scheduled meeting ... then we'd have THE meeting... then we'd have a meeting to see if everyone understood what we discussed and/or decided in THE meeting... And upper management wants to come down on the peons for wasting time ... All the meetings were called by upper management... NOW the place is in Bankruptcy!!(We had a meeting about that, too)

Employers DO need to stop blaming Facebook. Put the blame on the dumba-- people who continue to use it as well as anything else on a computer if your company rule is to not be doing sh-- like that. My last job saw night shift people who were dumb enough to leave their computer on the websites that they were not permitted to be on.
