UN: 'Green' Policies Can Create Up To 60 Million Jobs

UN Green policies new jobsGENEVA -- The U.N. agencies for labor and environment say nations can achieve a net gain of 15 million to 60 million jobs over the next two decades by taking better care of the planet. A study released Thursday by the U.N.'s International Labor Organization and Environment Program says that some jobs would inevitably be lost by switching to a "greener" economy, but net gains of 0.5 percent to 2 percent of total global employment are possible mainly through more renewable and efficient energy use, particularly in construction.

Most of the net employment gains are expected in agriculture, forestry, fishing, energy, manufacturing, recycling, building and transportation.

ILO Director-General Juan Somavia said the study - meant to influence international policy-makers - shows "we don't have to choose between protecting the environment and creating jobs."

Would this be like the "new" solar energy company that the Obamanation gave stimulus money to and then declared bankruptcy before the POTUS has even gotten thru his first term? They helped the POTUS with his job building ... then let them all go when they went belly up.

Good idea. But get the third and some second world nations to do this. HA. LOL. The UN is just a group that wants the US dollar to spend in thier countries to make profit. They could care less about us. Yet they sure do like the almighty buck. It is a has been group that just wants to bleed us dry and make rules that bring us down. Thier countries never follow the rules.

No nation except Spain has adopted the above. And we see Spain is failing miserably, according to its OWN Major University of Madrid Report. 2.2 Jobs LOST for every New "Green Job" created, by reallocating its Goverment resources AND Policies.

Do you really think we forgot all ready the World Rejection of Cap and Trade Economy killing policies???

AND we will pay for this how? Green is great, but you still can not fly a jet, or any plane with out combustion. Not enough lift. There will always be a need for oil, whether for synthetics, or for Jet Fuel.
Most countries are broke, and the cost of changing over to GREEN is more than most can afford. I would love to have solar on my house to cut my ties to the energy company, BUT, it would cost around $50K to do that. Add to that the cost of batteries and how they damage the environment? The new CFC bulbs have mercury in them and you can not break them or you have to have EPA come in and do your house at a cost of $5k for a broken bulb? WHO CAN AFFORD GREEN... Green pollutes too, and in some ways WORSE than non green. How about going to glass bottles for colas instead of cans like in the 50's and 60's??? NO WASTE THERE. Go old school
