Job Searching: The Tebow Way

Tim Tebow job search tipsBy Ryan Mack

Job searching seems harder than ever right now, but there are people getting jobs. So, how are they doing it? Even with the unemployment rate at 8.6 percent there are still five to six million jobs on the market at any given time that have yet to be filled. Why shouldn't you have one of them?

Denver Broncos quarterback, Tim Tebow, has had a new term coined after him called "Tebowing", where he uses his faith during the game to guide him. He's becoming a legend after coming onto the team and leading them to their sixth consecutive win! So what is his secret to getting what he wants - and how can you apply it to a job search?

Stay committed no matter what. If you have been looking for a job for a week or six months, you should make sure that you have the commitment that it takes to find the right job for you. Commitment to your job search means that you will dedicate a certain amount of hours per week to your search - and you won't stop until you have found a job. You will notice that Tebow usually helps his team to victory in the last stages of most games...and that's because as time passes and he is not reaching his goal, he only becomes more determined to reach it by the end of the game. The energy he produces out of his excitement can be felt by his team, which usually gives them an end of the game energy boost to take home a win!

Don't let others bring you down. No matter what the reasons behind not getting a job, or whatever friends or family are saying to you to make you think you are just not meant for a certain type of job, don't quit. You know what you are capable of and believing in yourself will give you the confidence you need to win over the interviewer. Tebow has been pummeled in the media for not having enough experience to be the team quarterback, so now that he has overcome their expectations, what does that say about him? He didn't break...and it only made him stronger and more determined to succeed in the face of doubt.

Don't undercut your integrity for a job. The whole meaning behind the word integrity is to adhere to your own moral character and honesty. So, don't take a job that is going to put your integrity into question. If you interview for a sales position where you just do not believe in the product they sell, then how are you going to sell it to people and feel good about yourself? Look for something you can be passionate about and that fits in with your beliefs. Think about what your dream job would be.

Tebow is never afraid of showing his beliefs in front of others. He kneels on the field every game to clearly signify his religious beliefs for all to see and he never waivers in the face of judgment.

Be your own inspiration. You will have some interviews that just do not work out and that means the job just wasn't for you. When this happens, take some time to analyze why you didn't get the job and then pick yourself up by the boot straps and move on to bigger and better jobs interviews. Throughout each game, Tebow fights hard the entire game to win and it is usually within the last minutes of the game that an extraordinary reigniting of his spirit takes place and he has a renewed focus on his goal to win!

We all have an inner Tebow within us. Can you find it within you?
