Wild Miami Joy Ride Gets Cop Fired, Charged with Felonies

It was bad enough that a couple of Miami Beach police officers joined a raucous bachelorette party at a South Beach club -- while in uniform. But when one of the officers jumped on his police ATV to take a female partier on a pre-dawn joy ride and ran into two people, seriously injuring them, he not only got fired, he was booked on multiple felonies.

The former officers, Derick Kuilan and Rolando Gutierrez, were photographed while partying with a group of women from Pennsylvania, who later reported that since the officers were drinking and dancing with them, they didn't believe they were real cops, according to The Smoking Gun.

At one point, Kuilan, 30, invited one of the women to climb on the back of his ATV for a ride along the beach in the wee hours of the morning. Lighting was dim, and witnesses report that the two were riding on the sand, mostly without headlights, when they struck a man and a woman.

Three weeks later, the woman is still in the hospital after having her spleen removed and suffering a broken femur. The man had a broken bone that also required surgery, but was able to return home.

Both Guierrez and Kuilan were let go from the police force shortly after the incident, which is well documented with photos provided by the bachelorette party goers. Kuilan, however was booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail earlier this week on felony counts, and was released after posting $30,000 bail.
