disney hawaii hotel The Magic Kingdom is expanding to Hawaii -- Oahu, to be exact and Disney is hiring 800 employees over the next six weeks to staff its newest resort, the Aulani. An additional 300 will be brought on to be trained and in place for the projected August 29 opening.

The brand new resort on 21 acres in West Oahu is nearly complete -- most of the major construction is done and finishing work is currently in progress. About 100 employees have already been hired, most in managerial positions. But there are plenty of hourly positions to be filled, for positions in housekeeping, food and beverage, entertainment and more.

The resort will need plenty of people to service its 359 hotel rooms and 481 two-bedroom villas, which will be part of the Disney Vacation Club. Rooms are housed in two 15-story towers with views of the ocean, mountains and grounds.

There will be two restaurants on site, an 18,000-square-foot spa, a wedding lawn, a conference center and extensive water activities, including a central swimming pool, 900-foot tube floating watercourse, wading pool, body slides, sunset-facing hot tubs, a quiet adult pool, a snorkel lagoon, and a conservation pool.

Positioned as a family resort, there will also include a signature kids' club -- Aunty's Beach House -- where kids can explore Hawaiian culture through fun and games, arts and crafts, and many other experiences created just for them.

Disney calls all its employees 'cast members,' and is looking mostly for locals with hospitality experience to fill the 'rolls.' "We are looking for cast members who are self-motivated, who are committed to excellence and teamwork," Kimberly Agas, hired two months ago as resort manager, told Hawaii's Star Advertiser.

If you're interested in applying, you can get more information and an application at the resort's job site.
