Former Colts Cheerleader Malori Wampler Fired for Racy Photos or Race?

Malori Wampler - an Indianapolis Colts cheerleader It's not about the racy photos - it's about the race - and gender, according to an Indianapolis Colts cheerleader who recently filed a lawsuit against the organization, claiming that they fired her because she is female and Indonesian, not because of her nearly naked Playboy photos, as she was told.

Malori Wampler was called into the Colts' office the day after she'd cheered at a game in November. She was told that the organization objected to some Playboy photos she'd posed for before she was employed by the Colts, that depicted her almost nude with body paint - her private parts were covered. She was not identified in the photos.

Colts officials told her the photos violated the part of her contract that says she must not be involved in "any act that will or may create notoriety."

Wampler believes that the Colts discriminated against her based on her gender and ethnicity, since cheerleaders of other ethnicities, and even players on the Colts team who have similar clauses in their contracts, have been involved in acts that brought "notoriety" beyond team functions, and they were allowed to keep their jobs. Her lawsuit cites numerous examples.

Wampler, who was employed by Playboy prior to becoming a Colts cheerleader, had told her prospective employers about her job there, and she was hired after a particular photo of her was removed from the Playboy website. She says that she never posed nude for Playboy.

But apparently, a fan did some extensive Internet sleuthing, found the photos and sent them to the Colts head office.

"I couldn't find them, she couldn't find them, so they are not easily accessible to the public," Wampler's attorney, Kimberly Jeselskis told Indystar.com. Jeselskis believes they must have been buried in Playboy's web archives. Wampler had no idea they were posted.

So what is Wampler seeking, in addition to a clean reputation? She wants the judge to tell the Colts to rehire her, pay her the wages she lost since she was fired in November, and to compensate her for damages and the cost of the lawsuit. Wampler was paid $100 for each game and promotional appearance. She says that her cheerleading job was her only source of income. She is currently working as a physical therapist.

The pictures were all over her FACBOOK not the Playboy website. This article lacks main detail. The pictures were very Inappropriate! She was completely nude with a little bit of paint and tape over her nipples. I think Ms. Wampler needs to take some responsibility for her actions. Also, as a medical professional she should probably understand that working for Playboy probably isn't the best idea. Ms. Wampler should probably act a little more lady llike before someone complains on her to the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency too. Second point I would like to make is: Get over it! The cheerleading Assoication isn't being racist. I would like to reiterate the fact that you should be a responsible adult and be a little more wise about taking your clothes off, taking a picture of it and then posting it all over FACEBOOK! You're a fool Ms. Wampler for taking this to the media when you were in the wrong.

Hey, you get that money girlfriend. But this makes me wonder. Why is it that when minorities write about REAL racism or discrimination, it barely makes it to the press, but if a White person write something they "feel" is racist, it hits the headlines, and a counter attack is waged against (not the writer) all minorities? Is one writer taken more seriously than the other? [see Tim Wise vs. Al Sharpton...same viewpoint, different public feedback]

As America takes baby steps towards reducing racism, where & who did this term of "race card" come from? We can all agree that racism still exists, & MANY people seem to have a degree in pointing out fakers. I mean, we ALL dislike those whom we feel have un-deserved gains (siblings, races, religions, sex (orientation)nations, political aff, etc) but what happens when real racism occurs and it impacts someone's well being? Is it prefered that they hush up and deal with it (similar to Jim Crow era)? I honestly believe that if it were that easy to "play the race card" then redlining wouldnt exist, along with other things.

Now back to this article, the American judicial system is corrupt, as many have stated before me, & not in favor of minorities or the lower class). Other than true discrimination, under what circumstance should this judge or any judge "want" to rule in favor of a Black woman? Pitty? I doubt it. Fear of the NAACP? Yea, their evil eye really inflicts serious damage (sarcasm). Money? The Colts are wealthier than she & that would make this a class issue rather than a race one.

Seeing how flamable race related topics are these days (especially when a minority "plays the race card") I'm almost to think that it would be best to just not talk about race with people of a different race than your own. (Almost)

I can't believe that some jerk would go out of their way to search for pictures and then go to the trouble of sending them to the Colts. Sounds kind of fishy! The Colts had other reasons to get rid of her. Maybe not the reason she gave but something.

Hardly, take a look she's attractive. Quit pulling the race card! America is tired of being called stupid by the media. If you have done nothing wrong then don't worry.

I do not believe that her "race"anything to do with it. Nor her gender. This is just a ploy by a woman who can play the race card and try to get what she wants.
I bet she is making more money as a physical therepist than she did at $100 a game.

This cheerleader is one fine looking lady. She more then likely was judged by a bunch of old farts that sneek around behind their old ladies back looking for someone who looks like her to pay for favors. Shame some people stick their nose in other peoples business. I don't believe she was fired for race, anyone that good looking, who would care what her race was? I believe she should be the President of the Colts................
