Sample Resume: Military-to-Civilian Transition

Military-to-Civilian When Sally transitioned from the military to civilian life, she needed a resume that focused on the skills she acquired in the military that would be most relevant to the private companies she was targeting. She turned to Janet Beckstrom, owner of Word Crafter.

Janet created a presentation that focused on Sally's warehousing, inventory, and supervisory skills. This resume is one of many that are featured in Wendy Enelow and Louise Kursmark's book, 'Expert Resumes for Military-to-Civilian Transitions.'

Advertised resume creation companie are a scam. Go to a bookstore and pick one of the 1000 titles available. Any of these books will give you hundreds of examples. Pick one and take a shot. Keep thinking about what you have out there and try to improve your resume. Paying for special services is a scam...i.e. "hidden" market. if you do try one of thes 'professional' writers, if they don't ask you a ton of questions as to what you did...you can do it yourself.

Ms Safani,

Again thank you. I have told people to get professional help. My very close family friend, who received a University degree thought he and his buddies could do his resume. He could not understand why he could not find any one who wanted to interview him. He sent his resume to me. I tweeked it to what I knew would work. He got his interview and a job. Please do advise people to get help in writing a professional resume. Another close family friend asked me for help as well. He has not interviewed at this time. No results, but I believe he will get his position.

If we are walking with Jesus Christ, we are promised that His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Or as the NLT of the Bible puts it; "My yoke fits perfectly."

Try that on for size, as Jesus Christ is one size that fits all, both small and great.
