Congratulations to our Third Laptop Winner: Maribeth Cirigliano-Andolina

Maribeth Cirigliano Maribeth Cirigliano-Andolina from Woodside, Calif.

She chose the MacBook Air!

I am a kindergarten teacher, and would love, love, love to have a laptop of my own to use at home, with the option to bring it back and forth to our classroom. My kinder-kids would love to be able to Skype kids from other countries; plus, record their kindergarten songs, plays, presentations, poetry readings, visitors, activity centers, play times -- gee, actually, ALL their adventures throughout the year.

Then we could create a little CD for each child to bring home at the end of the year as a photo and recording memory of their A-MAC-ING kindergarten year -- (of course, I would change "Our AMAZING Kindergarten Year" to "Our AMACING Kindergarten Year" in honor of YOU for being so kind as to pick US ... smile). Wouldn't that be so cool? Geeze, I would LOVE A NEW LAPTOP to do a zillion things on for my kinder-kids, meetings, research projects, planning ... ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING! Thanks soooooo much, and have a great day!

I just have to comment on Maribeth's entry. Maribeth's ability to use the English language is limited. She talks about "BRING it back and forth". That is incorrect. It should be TAKE it. Then she says again "create a cd for the children to BRING home. I am really worried about her mastery of the English language and what she is teaching our children. If we don't monitor the kind of teachers we are hiring we are really going to dumb down the English language. Especially in kindergarten, it is important that our teachers are really aware of English and the correct use of words. this was just a short synopsis of her written expression and I would venture to say a longer piece would include many mistakes. Perhaps this is sour grapes because I did not win, but that's why I am reading the entries carefully. Please, please watch the English of those in jobs of influence.

You should know that her students score at a third grade level and higher because of her very "limited English language" . You should know that she devotes her very being to her students and maintains a close relationship with all of her students, so sorry if her English language is not up to your standards but maybe she is busy staying up until 4 A.M. planning projects for her kids so that they can get the great education they deserve. I am sorry that her great personality can radiate through her writing and yours can not. I hope you can re-read her entry and think about how great of a person she is and how much she deserved this laptop and how the laptop is being used for everything she wrote about and more. Please, please get a personality that people can like.
