Wegmans Food Markets Hiring 1,500; Benefits for Part Time Too
Wegmans Food Markets, one of Fortune's best places to work, is hiring 1,500.
Wegmans Food Markets is a family-owned regional supermarket chain, currently with 75 stores. Primarily it operates in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Northborough, Mass. It will be opening three new stores.
In 2009, Wegmans rose from rank 32 to rank 29 on the Supermarket News list in terms of sales volume. One way it gains the edge is by selling products under the 'Wegmans' brand at prices significantly lower than those national brands. In addition, it embraces causes such as being anti-tobacco, a product it no longer sells.
Wegmans career site explains that both full-time and part-time workers receive benefits. Current openings are listed. Essentially, Wegmans wants you to present your love of food and your care about serving the customer. The company, started in 1916, built its reputation as a grocery powerhouse through pulling out all stops serving customers.
