The most under looked industry she has overlooked is as follows, energy conservation, energy audits, solar power, wind power and alternative energy. A lot of people in the "hospitality"sector are getting minimum wages,or slightly over. You see she will not tell what they are makeing per hour. I have an energy auditing business and if I wanted to hire 20 people I would have to pay a starting wage of atleast $12.00 and up. If not $12.00 you would get the bottom of the barrel. Then even if you did train them they would leave you just when you trained enough for them not to be supervised constanly. What she has to do is more research on the subject befor she makes her opinion known. And that's the way it is.

I am so excited to read that media, newspapers and such will be the 5th fastest growing segment of the economy... I guess all the newspapers that are in trouble like the Chicago Tribune which has filed bankruptcy will be fine.. how about all the papers that are already out of businees I know there is one for sure in Seattle that is gone, one in Denver and one in Cleveland that are all non existent... man what a croc... all the existing papers are trying to figure how to become profitable using the web...and most reporters are now free lance as no paper can afford the luxury of paying salaries and benefits...

This list of jobs are so crappy. In 1979 I was Making 12.00 and hour. The work that I used to do now only makes 13.00. I used to make 25.00 dollars and hour. I am in the medical field. So everything you see now days is 10.00. We are going backwards not forward with the money issues. A family that works even with two jobs cannot afford to live on this type of salary. Plus you have to paid for college and to be making this type of money is so out of touch.

This list is like, from 15 years ago. It can't be for 2010. Who are we kidding about Hospitality, Real Estate, Retail and Manufacturing? No one is traveling, no one is buying stuff and all the mfg. went overseas. I might agree, however, that in the Real Estate sector, she categorizes this as helping people find RENTALS and MANAGE current real estate holdings. That one may be true.

IF you read the first paragraph, it plainly states the source of the data...all she's done is relay the facts.

I agree with you Sterling, it's a ludacrisly insanely misleading compile of a listing..... Perhaps by some "motivated" soul looking to light a spark of hope within the jobs market?

What's she smokin? I can't believe she has done anything to research her list. It would be more appropreate if she named it 10 shrinking industries. Well over 60% of the industries she claimed are expanding are actually shrinking....90% if you exclude jobs paying less than $12.00 per hour. Can you support your family on that wage. I would imagine Barbara's business, Career Solvers, charge a fee and gives out some information that she pulled off of Craig's list. I'll be sure and run out and buy a copy of her book.
