Although, I respect your comment I have to disagree to some extent. I am one of those HR people that you seem to think don't know enough to be able to refer the right people over to managers for selections. While it is true we don't have a technical or expertise knowledge of all the positions that are filled, we do have the information from the managers as to what they are looking for, we have the write ups and the job classifications and guides that tell us in detail what a position in that field needs to know and the levels of experience. And the manager is either a phone call away or down the hall, so it's not like we can't ask them questions etc... Most people have no one to blame but themselves they feel they are not getting considered for a position. You have your lazy resume writers who think that just by giving you their title is enough and that they don't need to expand on anything, and then you have the wordy ones that write a lot but don't tell you anything. When you write a resume you need to be able to tell your responsibilities in the job, the things you use to do the job, any accomplishments you brought to the job etc... Whether you believe it or not most people don't write good resumes. It's not easy for people to talk about themselves in some cases. The other fact you is now days, there are more than just 2-5 applicants. Employers now days are getting hundreds of applications for 1 position. So, people are going to have to either update their skills to a field that needs people or create their own job.
